Best of Chinese Kosher Moves to Times Square Stage

NEW YORK -- Five kosher chefs from around the tri-state area will compete in the first ever Kosher Round of the NTD International Chinese Culinary Competition in Times Square this Thursday September 27th.  The restaurants scheduled to appear are Eden Wok (New York, NY), Fumio Grill & Sushi (Livingston, NJ); Mr. Broadway (New York, NY); NU Cafe 47 (Brooklyn, NY) and Wok Tov (Cedarhurst, NY).

The chefs, who will have 45 minutes to cook a self-chosen dish and a surprise required dish, hope to demonstrate to the judges and the world that kosher Chinese food can be just as good as any of the other top 60 chefs competing, despite the kosher limitations. All the ingredients and equipment for the kosher round will be under the strict supervision of the Orthodox Union.

The kosher round, being held from 11:00am-11:45am, is coordinated by Publisher Elan Kornblum of the Great Kosher Restaurants Magazine. Kornblum encourages everyone in the area to come down and support the kosher chefs.
