Kosher Travelers Love the Poconos but Clamor for Kosher Food

Pocono, PA…The Pocono Mountains are rapidly becoming a destination of choice for kosher travelers, particularly from the New York-New Jersey area. The area is a year-round family friendly region but despite its attraction to kosher travelers, it sorely lacks good kosher options. Kosher Today has learned, however, that plans are afoot for major developments that will be announced soon. Of late, many Jewish families have been purchasing summer homes in the area as an alternative to the crowded and more expensive Catskills region in Upstate New York. The Poconos are also home to many summer camps. Many of the resorts provide airline-type kosher meals but the area lacks a major kosher resort or kosher restaurants, which sources say is about to change. Many people take advantage of kosher offerings in Scranton, 47 miles away.
