Skokie, ILL…Hungarian Kosher is no longer owned by the Kirsch family but the iconic kosher independent store will always be associated with Margit Kirsch and her husband Sandor who opened the store in 1973. Mrs. Kirsch died several weeks ago at the age of 96 and was buried in Israel. Rabi Moshe Soloveitchik said Hungarian “was more than a store. When you were there, you were in a sense, part of the family. “She was really a mother figure and a grandmother figure,” the rabbi said.
