“Queen of Kosher” Symbol of Surging Kosher Foodie Movement

Secaucus, NJ – The kosher foodie movement is booming and becoming increasingly more important to the kosher food industry. It was clearly in evidence at last month’s Kosherfest, as Jamie Geller, referred to in some media as the “Queen of Kosher,” for the second year produced the official culinary programming for the show. Her 5 demos, covered a wide range of topics, including “Trending Food in the Kosher Industry and Beyond”, “Best Practices For Kosher Supermarket Demos Sponsored By Bubby Bailee’s”, “How-To Design A Menu To Avoid Food Waste”, “Redefining The Holidays: Chanukah Classics Updated, sponsored by Manischewitz” and “Creating A Meal Plan: Fresh Families”. The busy kitchen capped off its Kosherfest programming with the 2nd annual Jamie Geller’s Kosher Masters Competition, sponsored By Palisades Kosher Parchment Paper.  Three home cook finalists from across the United States competed for the crown.  Challenged with creating 2 dishes showcasing 2 unique and creative uses for parchment paper, Miami-based event stylist Reena Goldberger won a $500 gift certificate, 3-foot tall Palisades Kosher Parchment Paper Gift Basket and a year of stardom – where she will be a featured guest on JamieGeller.com and the Jamie Geller brand social media and video channels.

The Jamie Geller program was a reflection of the rapidly growing kosher foodie movement. With many new cookbooks and websites like kosher.com, sponsors of the unprecedented presentation by Trendspotting expert at Google Yarden Horwitz, there was agreement by kosher food industry experts that the foodies are driving a great deal of business. One exhibitor called the movement “a new generation of home chefs,” and indeed this year’s Masters Competition was all about the home chefs.
