Professional Chefs Show Off Skills in Kosherfest Competition

Secaucus, NJ… Katusji Tanabe, the chef and owner of Mexikosher, the first and only authentic kosher Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, was the winner of the 7th Annual Kosherfest Chef’s Competition. With a standing-room only crowd watching in awe at one of the key events at Kosherfest, Chef Tanabe used only 30 minutes to create 3 portions of one entree from a basket of mystery ingredients. Chef Tanabe has competed in and won Food Network’s “Chopped” competition and is currently a contestant on “Top Chef Boston.” Competing against Chef Tanabe were Itta Werdiger-Roth, Chef & Owner, Mason & Mug Restaurant, Brooklyn
and David Blum, Executive Chef, Hartman’s Fine Kosher Foods, Toronto. The winner was awarded a $1000 first prize.  The MC for the event was Pastry Chef & Cookbook Author Paula Shoyer. The judges included Philippe Kaemmerle, Chef Instructor, The Center for Kosher Culinary Arts, Jack Silberstein, Owner, Jack’s Gourmet Sausages, and Naomi Nachman, Host, Table for Two Radio Show on Nachum Segal Network.
