TV Star Jill Zarin Named Streit’s Matzo Ball Queen

NEW YORK — Former Real Housewives of New York star, Jill Zarin, recently signed a multi-year endorsement deal to become the new face of Streit’s Matzos. This is the first national media campaign for the kosher food brand, which was launched nearly a century ago. Zarin, a well-known Jewish Reality TV icon, was brought on board just as the family-owned business announced it would be closing its famous matzo factory in the Lower-East Side and baking elsewhere.

Started in 1916 by Aron Streit, an Austrian immigrant, Streit’s today describes itself as the only family-owned matzo producer in the country. The matzo business has become increasingly competitive in the United States, not only with other home-grown brands such as market leader Manischewitz, but the market has been flooded by cheaper Israeli brands, such as Yehuda and Osem that are competing with the American matzo producers. Streit’s is hoping that Zarin’s endorsement of their products will help drive sales and make matzo products relatable to even the most unaffiliated Jew.

“I have been serving Streit’s kosher products in my house for years and look forward to sharing the products with you,” Zarin said. The actress has already begun promoting the brand through social media, posting images of her own home cooked matzo balls and latkes using Streit’s mixes.
