Trending in Time for Shavuot: Dalgona Coffee

New York…by Mussy Raitman…Shavuot (eve of May 28th) is all about dairy and this year there is a trend towards Dalgona. Perhaps it’s due to coffee shops around the world being temporarily closed or maybe because finally people have some extra time on their hands, whipped coffee a.k.a. Dalgona coffee has taken the social media world by storm in the past couple of months! (Followed closely by banana bread) Dalgona coffee is a whipped coffee drink made by combining equal parts of instant coffee, sugar, and hot water.

You whip them together until it resembles a fluffy meringue type consistency. Once it’s whipped, dollop it over your choice of milk. You can use hot milk or cold milk with ice. Give it a little stir and enjoy! With the possibility that people will still be home bound on Shavuos, kosher companies are promoting their products for the holiday. Companies like Norman’s are promoting their new products such as a whipped cream cheese. Expecting an uptick in home cooking and baking, recipes are the order of the day for Shavuot 2020.
