Second Rockland County Evergreen Store to Open in Ramapo while Bingo Plans Go Forwar

Ramapo…Evergreen Kosher Supermarket will take over the lease of The Stop & Shop supermarket in the Pacesetter Shopping Center in Ramapo in early 2021, Kosher Today has learned. According to informed sources, this will be Evergreen’s second store in Rockland County. It also has a store in Lakewood NJ. Evergreen signed a lease for 2021 to take over the space now occupied by Stop & Shop supermarket. When completed, the 50,000-square-foot store off Route 202 near Ramapo's border with the Village of Pomona and Town of Haverstraw is expected to bring some 200 jobs to the shopping plaza. The existing supermarket's interior and exterior will be redone to accommodate Evergreen's grocery, butcher, bakery, health food, fish, produce, sushi, full-service deli and prepared foods. Evergreen's 30,000-square-foot Monsey location in the Town Square shopping center on Route 59 is currently Rockland's largest kosher supermarket.

Meanwhile, the sources say Bingo is moving forward with plans to open its third store in the New York/New Jersey area with a store in Rockland County. Rockland Developer Alexander Property Holdings has bought Spring Valley Marketplace for $59.3 million, RCBIZ Journal reports. The shopping center will allocate nearly 100,000 square feet to house a Bingo Wholesale, a kosher superstore that is a joint venture between the Brooklyn-based Marav USA and Osher Ad, a grocery chain with 20 stores in Israel.
