Optimism Abounds for Passover 2016

Bayonne NJ - Harold Weiss of Kayco is one of a number of kosher food officials that are extremely optimistic about the sales of kosher for Passover foods this year. Although Passover does not begin until the eve of April 22nd, it is precisely the lateness of the holiday that is reason for some of the optimism. Distributors are expecting retailers to pay greater attention to Passover as it falls several weeks after Easter. They expect the snowbirds to be back and if they needed any more reasons, orders are up from 2015. Some industry sources expect production of Passover items to be up and there is also a sense of optimism about the addition of several large stores as well as the expansion of the kosher aisle in many. One distributor said: “I will very much enjoy this breather of the late holiday but I also expect to sell more.”
