New York - A Kosher Today story (August 10th) about a growing movement to offer kosher at the nation’s major airports should not include New York’s area airports, which Kosher Today has learned has 34 locations that offer kosher food. The story reported that Herris Gourmet in Boston was introducing OU kosher-certified food in Terminal E of Logan International Airport, through a distribution deal with York Street Caterers. Herman Franczoz, President of Herris Gourmet said that he hoped to "be able to provide great tasting OU Kosher-certified food for travelers in other airports in the tristate area and look forward to achieving this goal in the near future." But Kosher Today has subsequently learned that there was plenty of kosher food at New York’s area airports. Packaged under the FRESKO and Yummy Sandwich Labels, Travelers can enjoy an incredible variety of sandwiches, salads and wraps – all under the strict supervision of the Star-K (pas Yisroel). Menu items include many sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The food is available in 10 locations at Newark’s Liberty Airport, 8 locations at LaGuardia Airport and 16 locations at New York’s JFK International Airport. Some 1.5 million kosher travelers are said to pass through New York’s airports. Despite a growing number of kosher travelers who go through airports at other major cities, there are still few kosher options like in New York, Florida and now Boston.
