New Kosher Cookbooks Target Younger Consumers

NEW YORK— The number of new kosher cookbooks continues to grow and so do sales of the books. The latest reads like Entertains from Efrat Lebfroind (the Israeli kosher dessert diva who is also very popular here), the Best of Family Table from Mishpacha Magazine, Gathered Around the Table from the Netivot Hatorah organization, and a rapidly selling Secret Restaurant Recipes by Leah Schapira and Victoria Dwek are amongst the new kosher cookbooks.

A number of other kosher cookbooks are slated to be published in 2015. One Judaica bookstore told Kosher Today that he sells “more than 100 kosher cookbooks.” According to the Judaica stores, the primary customers for the books are young married women or older customers who often buy the books as gifts. They say that it was a big seller during the recent Chanukah holiday.

Kosher retailers say that they have experienced an appreciable increase in the sale of ingredient items, another indication of the popularity of home cooking.
