More Kosher Consumers opt for Organic Prompting Producers to Respond

WASHINGTON, DC — There is strong evidence to suggest that an increasing number of kosher consumers are buying kosher organic products. Retailers say that they are seeing more label checking than ever before and it’s not just for kosher. Kosher consumers are trying to avoid many of the ingredients that they believe is not good for them.

For kosher manufacturers, it is also becoming easier to produce organic items provided that it is either inherently kosher or can be made kosher. More than 25,000 operations were certified organic in more than 120 countries in 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 2013, the U.S. had a record-breaking 18,513 certified organic farms and businesses, representing a 245 percent increase since 2002.
