Surfside FL…While rescue teams from as far away as Israel and Mexico continued to dig through the rubble hoping for a miracle to find survivors from the collapsed South Champlain Towers, a massive relief effort was underway in the local Jewish community. Rabbi Sholom Lipskar of the Chabad affiliated The Shul opened his doors to the many survivors for the traditional Shabbat meals. Many of the kosher eateries on nearby Harding Avenue also provided food to First Responders including the IDF unit that was working on the scene. Offers of kosher food have been coming in from kosher food manufacturers and supermarkets nationwide. It was just another example of how the kosher community pulls together in times of crisis as it did after several hurricanes.
