Major Kosher Event Moved to November Due to Unrest in Paris

PARIS — The riots by Muslims here which included attacks on synagogues and kosher stores has prompted Olivier Princ to postpone a major kosher event scheduled for this summer. The event, “Kasher B2B Meetings” will be moved to Tuesday, October 21st at Espace Grande Arche - Paris La Défense. Mr. Princ praised Viparis, the organization that manages the space, for its understanding in allowing the event to be moved. Mr. Princ, who is responsible for kosher and halal exhibitors at the SIAL show (October 19 – 23), feels that visitors to SIAL will naturally wish to visit the kosher event on the 21st. The event will allow manufacturers to meet with potential buyers in one-on-one sessions.

Despite the unrest, said Mr. Princ, French Jews are committed to staying with only a small number immigrating to Israel. France and Paris in particular is the largest Jewish community in Europe. It is believed that some 600,000 live in France, with most residing in Paris.
