Kosher Retailers Roll Out Purim Campaigns

NEW YORK — With one eye on Passover, many retailers are focused on the upcoming Purim holiday (March 16th) that in recent years has become a key date on the Jewish calendar. The retailers are playing on the fun theme, highlighting music, costumes, and other less than serious visuals that portray fun and appeal to younger consumers. They also recognize that Purim which celebrates the miracle of the Jews being saved from the evil Haman in ancient Persia is also the window to Passover where consumer loyalty is important to retain the customer during the 8-day holiday of Passover (eve of April 15th). Many stores are already showcasing their Purim sections with foods for the traditional Mishloach Manos baskets that are sent to friends and relatives on the holiday itself.
