Kosher Near Me: YouÕll Never Go Hungry Again

NEW YORK — An app that allows users to find and review kosher restaurants in their area is growing in popularity. Launched nearly 2 years ago by developer Jonathon Myron, Kosher Near Me is constantly updated with the newest restaurants, menus, hashgachas (certifications), and reviews. It fills a growing need, serving as a portable directory for kosher eateries.

Available for Android, iPhone, Nook, and Windows phones, users simply open the application and it provides a map of kosher restaurants within a 10 mile radius. Users can also search for restaurants in certain cities or postal codes. Myron, who keeps kosher, developed the app when he realized there was simply no other service for kosher consumers to use. As he told The Jewish Chronicle, “There were websites with a hodgepodge of information but often, these were out of date. There was no definitive source that understood the nuances of the kosher consumer.”

With listings in 5 countries, including the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, and France, the app brings a whole new level of ease to the kosher traveler. It allows searches for restaurants based on meat, dairy, or pareve, and even allows for a direct call to the restaurant in the listing. The app has already been downloaded more than 10,000 times.
