Israeli Exhibitor Brings Innovative Gift Idea to Kosherfest

JERUSALEMBarbara Shaw, will be one of a number of first-time exhibitors who will be part of the Israeli pavilion at the upcoming Kosherfest. Ms. Shaw is launching her 'Bold Jewish Gifts with a Twist' range at the show. Her gifts for the kitchen and home feature bright, colorful, upbeat designs with Kosher and Jewish themes that have global appeal.

“I draw from the ancient sources and apply them to designs that are fresh, bold and sassy,” says Barbara.” I am creating a new idiom, with up-market styling and packaging. I weave the landscapes around me into products with humor that enhance and beautify the Jewish home and everyday living.”

Inspired by her mother’s chicken soup and piles of fresh produce discovered at the market in her home city of Jerusalem, Barbara Shaw designed a fun recipe apron and dishtowel to bring a pop of color to the kitchen. All are screen-printed by hand, and manufactured ethically in her own workshop, using cotton and linen fabrics. Her range of products are beautifully gift packaged in printed sleeves.

The, iconic Jaffa orange and pomegranate themes also appear on upscale house wares. Zany wise Yiddish proverbs appear on a multitude of products; coasters, trivets - her Schlep bag is a classic. Barbara’s collections include a wide range of aprons with fun sayings and classic themes, table linens, as well as cushions, totes, ceramic and glassware serving pieces, wooden coasters, clocks and trivets.

A number of items celebrate mothers and women in a variety of languages. One of the most innovative textile artists in Israel, Barbara manages production from her studio in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, her store in downtown Jerusalem is bursting with color and great design. She sells to gift stores and Jewish Museum stores worldwide.
