Israel Wins One at the United Nations: Kosher Food in the Cafeterias

United Nations - These may be historic days for the world body as the cafeterias at UN headquarters in New York began serving kosher food. Israeli UN Ambassador Danon had petitioned UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, saying it would be appropriate for the UN to offer kosher food, especially in light of the fact that it already serves halal food for observant Muslims, as well as vegetarian food. Ambassador Danon and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recently toured the new kosher cuisine at the UN. What Secretary Moon might be interested to know is that kashrus supervision agencies operate in 99 countries, something that the world body cannot match.
