Israel Weighs Opening Country to Passover Tourism

Tel Aviv…Just when the hotel industry has come to grips with the fact that 2021 will again be a year when the industry fills rooms only with sharply discounted domestic guests, comes word of a possible relaxation of the strict restrictions on foreign tourists. The government is allowing Israelis with voting rights to enter Israel to vote on March 23rd and is now considering allowing foreigners to spend Passover in Israel. Although travel sources say that it is extremely late for any significant boost, many Americans and Europeans have applied to enter the country for the upcoming Passover holiday. Despite the possible eased restrictions, there is no word when El Al, Israel’s national carrier will resume full service. Israel’s hotel industry which has already lost billions of dollars due to the pandemic, is still trying to save the summer tourism season, but they are extremely supportive of lifting the Passover ban.
