Food Writer Decides Kosher Market Needs Yet Another Cookbook

New York ... Food writer Leah Schapira is the latest kosher cooking maven to add a cookbook to the growing number of books introduced in the recent past. Her “Fresh & Easy Kosher Cooking” (ArtScroll) contains over 170 simple recipes, most of which use basic ingredients. In explaining why she decided to publish the cookbook, Mrs. Schapira told KosherToday: “The new Kosher cookbooks are wonderful but many of them they are intimidating. Either the end results seem out of reach or because they include hard to find ingredients or instructions that are complicated.” She adds: “My goal was to put together recipes that appeal to home cooks, picky eater, kids and those that are looking to find new recipe ideas. It is really as the subtitle states - How to make extraordinary meals using ordinary ingredients.” Mrs. Schapira served as food editor at Mishpacha Magazine from 2007 to 2010, senior food editor at Ami Magazine, coauthor of the best selling Silver Spoon cookbook and cofounder of KosherCooking.com, a kosher recipe exchange website.
