Fish and Dairy Reign Over Nine Days for Kosher Consumers

NEW YORK — Most of Manhattan’s high-end kosher restaurants will be offering a “Nine Days Menu” that largely consists of fish, pasta, vegetarian, and other non-meat dishes. The Nine Days are the days that mark the mourning of Jews over the destruction of the First and Second Temple. It begins with the first day of Av on July 28th and ends with the fast of the Ninth of Av on August 5th.

In addition to the restaurants, many retailers are advertising their non-dairy options. For many retailers, there is just a small respite from the Nine Days until preparations begin in earnest for the upcoming High Holy Days.
