Empire to Further Strengthen its Kosher Certification in its Mifflintown Plant

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Empire Kosher is planning to add a major kosher certifier to all of its poultry productions in its Mifflintown PA plant. At a White House reception marking Jewish American Heritage Month on May 30th, Greg Rosenbaum, CEO of Empire Kosher, told KosherToday that the entire Empire plant in Mifflintown PA would soon come under the supervision of Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum, the Nierbarter Rav.

This, in addition to the Orthodox Union and K’hal Adas Jeshurun, who already certify the plant. Rosenbaum’s Empire chickens were served at the White House event, which he called a first. “It makes perfect sense to make this move since Rabbi Teitelbaum is already supervising kosher slaughter for other brands that are produced at the Empire plant,” Rosenbaum said.

Rabbi Teitelbaum is the supervising rabbi for chickens slaughtered at the plant by Alle Processing (Meal Mart). The added Chasidic hechsher by Rabbi Teitelbaum will not appear on Empire packaged chickens alongside the OU and KAJ.

The White House event included glatt kosher fare, under the supervision of Chabad of Greater Washington and the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington.
