Portland ME - Each year several hundred new products are showcased at the annual Kosherfest event. Industry officials agree that new products drive sales and can be an important ingredient in a manufacturer’s or distributor’s bottom line. History has also shown that winners of Kosherfest’s annual New Product Competition can significantly increase sales not only by being singled out at Kosherfest but ultimately by end user customers who learn of the distinction. This week, many of the new products will be entered into the competition to be judged by a prestigious panel of kosher supermarket buyers, culinary experts, industry luminaries, and media. The deadline for entries is October 14th and winners will be announced in the Kosher Today edition of October 26th. Jamie Geller of Joy of Kosher magazine will be making a special appearance as a judge this year. “Kosherfest is the ultimate event for vendors to introduce their kosher products to retail buyers in the US,” said Geller. “I am delighted to be invited to take part in this year’s competition.” Products are judged and awarded in the following categories: Cereals and convenience breakfast; yogurt or cheese; savory snacks including chips and crackers; sweet snacks including cookies and candy; breads and baked goods; frozen desserts; dips, spreads, and salsa, jams/preserves and dried fruit; condiments, sauces, dressings, and marinades; spices, oils, and vinegars; mixes, pastas, rice, and grains; frozen entrees and meal components; packaged meats; giftware, novelties, and non-food items; wine, beer, and spirits; and non-alcoholic beverages. On November 10, 2015 the selected winners will be honored during the opening ceremony of the 27th edition of Kosherfest.
