Other Winners Show Continued Trend of Gourmet and Healthy Kosher Products
NEW YORK — Single Serve k-Cup Coffee in three flavors – chai tea, pareve cappuccino and hot chocolate – introduced by Corim Industries of Brick, New Jersey, was selected as this year’s Best in Show in Kosherfest’s 2013 New Product Competition. The product also won the Beverages category. Winners will be crowned in 16 categories plus Best in Show. Entries were judged on such criteria as uniqueness, quality, presentation, taste, pricing and salability. They will receive their awards during the first hours of next week’s Kosherfest which opens on Tuesday October 29th.
The panel of judges included Yakov M. Yarmove, Ethnic Marketing and Specialty Foods, NAI/Jewel-Osco; Marty Stein, Kosher Foods Buyer, KEHE Distributors/Tree of Life; Yoely Schoenfeld, Manager, Evergreen Supermarket; Deborah Shapiro, Sales and Marketing Manager/Loyalty, Bi-Lo Holdings, LLC (Bi-Lo/Winn Dixie); and Howie Klagsburn, Store Manager, Gourmet Glatt Emporium.
The other winners included Goldbaum’s Gluten Free Flatbreads in the category of Breads, Grains, Cereals and Crackers (Goldbaum’s Natural n Tasty, Newark, NJ); Candy—Sugarless Rosemarie Pareve and Rosemarie Milk Chocolates (Schmerling's, Zurich Switzerland); Cheese or Dairy Items—Natural & Kosher Cheese Maker Selection (Anderson International, Jersey City, NJ); Deli Meats—KJ Poultry's Breaded Chicken Fries (KJ Poultry, Monroe, NY); Desserts/Baked Goods—Baked By Melissa Cupcakes (Baked By Melissa, NY, NY); Dips, Spreads, Salsas—Oxygen Pomegranate & Teriyaki Sauce (Oxygen Imports, Rahway, NY); Frozen Entrees—TÁSSOL Tortilla Española, frozen omelet of Potatoes, Eggs and Onion (Sterling Sales, Brooklyn, NY); Giftware & Novelties—Haggadah in shape of bottle of wine (AGN Ltd. According to Bill Springer of Diversified Business Communications, co-producers of Kosherfest along with Lubicom, a record number of new products were submitted this year. An estimated 500 new items are showcased at Kosherfest each year. This year Kosherfest will celebrate its 25th anniversary and again new products will drive the expected growth of kosher by some 12%.
