Battle with Cancer Leads to Kosher Tequila at Kosherfest

SECAUCUS NJ — Jana Khaimoff won her battle with cancer which left her with a determination to build a business for her children. It wasn’t just any business. It was ultra-premium tequila handcrafted in Jalisco, Mexico, made from 100% prime agave and certified gluten free and kosher. Her elegant Baron bottles will be on display at this year’s Kosherfest (November 11-12, Meadowlands Exposition Center, Secaucus, NJ). Family-owned and operated with 20-years of experience overseeing each step of the process - from growing and harvesting the agave to the triple distillation and bottling, Khaminoff embarked on a two-year tequila fact-finding experience to determine the attributes that would characterize the category’s next premier product.

Baron has achieved a uniquely, clean smooth taste through a natural process maximizing the power of the agave itself. After 10 years of growth, the prime heads of agave are harvested for production ensuring the allotment for Baron’s batch is the highest quality. They are then slow cooked at low heat to assure the caramelization of all their sugar. The hand-guided pot-still distillation cooks off the volatiles (impurities) leaving only the “heart.” With each of the three distillations, the resulting extract gets cleaner and cleaner achieving a zero-zero taste profile; eliminating any bad odor and bitter taste.

Unlike industrial producers, Baron is able to achieve a pure taste without the use of glycerin or other additives. To assure consistency, a panel of three tasting experts samples each batch to confirm it matches the original. The hands-on production process continues to the bottling of Baron. Starting with Jana’s original vision for an ornate, yet classic design, glassblowers first select the best quality glass possible and then engage in what they call a “four-touch” process guiding the glass into shape utilizing both human touch and sophisticated machinery to mold the ornate design directly into the glass itself. The 750ml bottle features decorative floral embellishments wrapping around the bottom and sides of the bottle, while the top boasts an engraved version of the Baron logo featuring two dragons flanking an agave plant.
