AKO Membership Conference to Take up Emerging Kashrus Issues

NEW  YORK — The annual Membership Conference of the Association of Kashrus Organizations (AKO) which will take place this Thursday at the headquarters of the Orthodox Union, will take on some new and emerging issues facing the rabbis, administrators and agencies who will gather here from around the world. The conference is timed to take place the day after Kosherfest which takes place at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus NJ. 

One topic that is certain to draw interest is Practical Hashgacha in Remote Areas–Face Time and Skype. Another pressing topic will be Accepting Innocuous Ingredients from China and the challenges in general of granting certification to Chinese food producers. Other topics will include Monitoring Kosher Meat, Pitfalls in Producing Kosher Cheese, Advancements in Securing Kosher Labels, Chalav Stam (regular kosher milk) in Overseas and Milk, and K Cups and Keurig Machines.
