AKO in Constant Review of Products for Passover

Chicago… Rabbis of the leading kashrus agencies are constantly reviewing products that may or may not need special kosher for Passover certification, according to Rabbi Sholem Fishbane, executive director of the Association of Kashrus Organizations (AKO). The AKO Ingredient Committee published its findings on an extensive list of ingredients and their status for Passover use. As an example, the committee approved the use of all aluminum foil, ammonia, baking soda, bleach, eggs, foil pans, furniture polish, disposable gloves, mineral oil, nail polish, nail polish remover, stain remover, stick deodorants, Styrofoam, tissues, and sugar. On the other hand, other items required certification, including wines, vegetable oil, olive oil, and nuts.
