Chicago’s Jewel-Osco Puts Kosher Consumers in Holiday Mood

CHICAGO — The Jewel-Osco chain is known for its robust kosher program, particularly in its Evanston store. To launch the holiday spirit, the store recently featured “A Taste of Kosher Food” fair. More than 1,000 people attended, sampling kosher food from 35 different kosher companies from around the U.S. and Israel. The event also included a live cooking demo with Chef Rafael Perez from the St. Augustine College, Culinary Arts featuring “Mexican Cooking the Kosher Way,” plus a cheese and wine pairing with Brent “The Cheese Guy” Delman and a slew of kosher wines from around the globe. The event was the brainchild of Yakov Yarmove, Jewel-Osco Corporate Category Manager for Specialty and Ethnic Foods, in celebration of Jewel’s 10th anniversary of opening the celebrated “Kosher Marketplace.”
