New York…Thousands of kosher travelers are set to visit destinations all over the world in what is shaping up as the busiest summer travel season in recent memory, according to travel experts. At least 45 organized trips visited destinations in Europe, Dubai, Morocco, and other major destinations such as Safari tours in South Africa. Amongst the travelers will be a large number of Israelis who are also expected to travel in record numbers. According to Elan Kornblum, a leading travel and restaurant expert, travelers will benefit from many new kosher eateries. New restaurants have recently opened in Taipei, Debreczyn, and the Bahamas.
Kornblum also emphasized the growing popularity for kosher cruises including some by major cruise line companies such as Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Cruise Lines. Some of the international cruise lines are courting Israeli travelers of late. The common kosher fare by these cruise line companies used to be pre-packaged airline style meals. Many would offer freshly prepared fish dishes that are double wrapped for their travelers. But sources told Kosher Today that there is a movement to offer freshly prepared meals on many popular international cruises. There are, of course, many kosher-chartered cruises as well as Kosherica which offers full kosher cuisine. One interesting travel note was the slight decline of summer tourism to Florida, which Kornblum explains fell victim to the resurgent international kosher travel.
