New Data Shows 25% Growth in LA Jewish Community

Los Angeles…Researchers found that there are more than 560,000 Jewish people living in Los Angeles, the second largest Jewish community in the U.S., making up 294,200 Jewish households in the city. This represents a 25% growth of Jewish households since 1997, the report found. Sources told Kosher Today that an estimated 7%-10% consider themselves Orthodox but all indications are that there are as many as 50,000 kosher consumers in the city. They say that many Iranian Jews and Israelis are amongst the kosher consumers and that several kosher stores carry Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods.
