The BDS (Boycott, Divestiture and Sanctions) movement unsuccessfully tried to get kosher Israeli products off the shelves under the pretext that they were produced in the Israel “occupied” Judea and Samaria. Now they have expanded their vitriolic campaign to college campuses attempting to ban kosher foods in college cafeterias. The latest was at the University of Toronto where the student union attempted to keep kosher out by passing a resolution banning the fare on campus. After an outcry they modified the language, which is just as bad: “Efforts should be made to source kosher food from organizations that do not normalize Israeli apartheid, however recognizing the limited availability of this necessity then exemptions can be made if no alternatives are available.”
College campuses should not be fodder for hateful activities. Keeping kosher food from students who need them is no way to conduct an intellectual discourse nor is it behavior befitting students seeking academic achievement. Shame on them!
