Portland, ME – Although the deadline for the submission is not until this Friday, October 14th, almost 50 new products have already been received as part of the pre-Kosherfest New Product Competition. The Kosherfest New Product Competition takes place every year several weeks before Kosherfest even begins. The Kosherfest team gathers influential leaders in the kosher retail industry to judge new products on taste, as well as marketability, packaging, pricing, and innovation. Entries have already been received from kosher companies spanning the country and the world, including Italy, South Korea, United Kingdom, Canada and Israel. While the applications must be submitted by the 14th, products must be received by Kosherfest by October 21st. The categories that will be judged include: Cereals and Convenience Breakfast | Yogurt | Cheese | Savory Snacks, Chips, Crackers | Sweet Snacks, Cookies and Candy | Breads and Baked Goods | Frozen Desserts | Dips, Spreads and Salsa | Jams/Preserves and Dried Fruit | Condiments, Sauces, Dressings and Marinades | Spices, oils and vinegars | Mixes | Pastas, Rice, Grains | Frozen Entrees & Meal Components (Pizza, TV Dinners, etc.) | Packaged Meats (deli, sausages, cured fish, etc.) | Giftware, Novelties & Non-food | Kosher for Passover | Wines, Beer or Spirits | Non-alcoholic beverages
Winners are announced at the end October and the New Product Award Ceremony takes place the first morning of Kosherfest, Tuesday, November 15th where the winners will be presented with their trophies and certificates before Kosherfest doors open. Winners from previous years say that the recognition is of enormous help at Kosherfest and beyond. With hundreds of new kosher products being introduced each year, winning the Kosherfest contest can help flag a new product and lead to significantly increased sales.
