Tel Aviv…There are more than a dozen large supermarket chains in Israel with hundreds of stores dotting the map of the Jewish state. More than 80% of the stores carry only kosher certified products. Israelis will soon have a choice of shopping in European branded supermarkets who are also promising to cater to kosher consumers. According to the prestigious Israeli business publication, Globes, Amit Zeev, until six weeks ago CEO of Yeinot Bitan-Carrefour Israel, is bringing Netherlands-based international retail chain SPAR to Israel. In March, Electra Consumer Products announced a franchise agreement with French retailing giant Carrefour, under which 150 branches of the Yeinot Bitan chain will be converted to the Carrefour format.
