Secaucus NJ… The 31st edition of Kosherfest opens on Tuesday morning at the Meadowlands Convention Center with an expected attendance of nearly 6000 food industry people from two dozen countries and 30 states. Entering its fourth decade, the show will feature a record 105 new exhibitors ushering in a new generation of foods that are kosher certified. For those involved in the expanding kosher food industry, the two-day show is an opportunity to meet wholesalers, retailers, food service, manufacturers, distributors and others involved in the food industry. Kosherfest is both a show for the kosher food industry and for food professionals to find some of the new and innovative products that appeal to the palettes of a much broader audience. With some 500 new products, many of which will be showcased in a special exhibit at the show, the offerings will include gluten-free, dairy-free, natural and organic as well as other products that appeal to the growing health-conscious consumer base.
The international flavor of the show will be very much in evidence as there will be exhibits from 21 countries including Israel, Canada, Czech Republic, Argentina. Mexico, Sri Lanka, Brazil, South Africa, Dubai, France, Italy and the UK. A trade delegation from Romania will visit the show, exploring the export possibilities from more than a dozen manufacturers in Romania. Many new wines and liquors will be scattered throughout the show. Manischewitz, newly acquired by Kayco, will have a strong presence at the show as will major distributors like Quality and Bertram. Returning to Kosherfest this year will be Kontos Foods, a U.S.-based manufacturer of traditional Greek and Mediterranean foods.
Some of the new products that won the annual New Product Competition will receive their awards at a ceremony during the opening hours of the show. The top winner this years of the Competition was Alle Processing/Mealmart with their new “Plattered BBQ Beef Cigars.”
