Secaucus NJ…Kosherfest 2021, the 32nd edition of the international kosher food trade show, is in the books. Despite the absence of several core international exhibitors and the cautious refrain of many well-known kosher brands, the just concluded kosher food show (November 9-10, Meadowlands Convention Center) is being termed a “major success.” Yakov Yarmove of Albertson's, a veteran key attendee of Kosherfests of past years said, “This was the greatest show ever.” He continued: “I marveled at all the new items that were here and I am actually taking back many new product samples to share with my staff.” Veteran food executive Kevin O’Brien wrote: “I enjoyed Kosherfest. It was great to see many smiling faces along with connecting in person with old friends. I especially liked the diverse range of exhibits, and I did feel there was a more casual pace where one could spend enough time at the exhibitors’ booths. Well done!”
A welcome addition this year was the large Key Buyer’s Lounge, sponsored by Kayco, a leader in the kosher food industry. The lounge was not only a place to schmooze with Kayco (Kedem) executives but a welcome place to rest tired legs and to conduct one-on-one sessions with buyers and vendors. Rabbi Moshe Elefant, COO of the Orthodox Union said that “we were able to conduct business in an unprecedented manner in the lounge.” The emphasis on foodservice was highlighted by the huge beautifully designed exhibit of the Culinary Depot of Spring Valley, NY. For a show that many thought might not happen because of Covid concerns, success was certainly the banner headline.
