Celebrating Israel's 60th Anniversary and Food History

The celebrations marking Israel's 60th anniversary continue this week as President George Bush joins an impressive group of thinkers, diplomats, and statesmen in heralding the remarkable accomplishments of the Jewish state despite the enormous challenges it has faced. They will no doubt take note of Israel's major contributions in medicine, technology, agriculture, aeronautics and yes food. Israel's food industry like much of Israel is a story of triumph, many started by immigrants and Holocaust survivors who arrived in Palestine prior to statehood in 1948 with only a dream of living a 'normal' life.
