5,000 Attend at First Kosher Wine Event in Jerusalem

Jerusalem…by Idele Ross, KT Israel Bureau Chief…Some 35 wineries participated in the city’s first Kosher Wine Expo event which was sponsored by WineSevenTwo and AA Piyup, a leading retailer of kosher wine and liquor in Jerusalem. Some 5,000 people attended the two day event which included workshops and lectures. Organizers say that a highlight was the classes given by Israeli chef Shaul Ben Aderet on cooking with wine. The Israel Institute of Democracy has published a comprehensive study of Israeli society. It found that an overwhelming 90 percent of those asked think it is important to very important to observe a Jewish life. 87 percent said Israeli institutions should be serving kosher food. A three day Israwine Expo 2012 gets underway on February 21st at the Tel Aviv fairgrounds. Amir Tamri CEO of the Tel Aviv Fairgrounds said that the expo is an opportunity to learn about innovations and to network with buyers and other professionals who attend. Tamri said that the previous Expo in 2010 drew more than 20,000 visitors.
